To My Fellow Officers and Warrant Officers of the New Hampshire National Guard:
Happy New Year! As your President, I’m
asking you to support the National Guard Association of New
Hampshire (NGANH). As you know, the NGANH is a state association
that reports to and works in conjunction with the National Guard
Association of the United States (NGAUS).
Membership is the lifeblood of our organization both locally and nationally.
Your continued support enables NGAUS to have a crucial voice on
Capitol Hill and directly supports our Soldiers and Airmen as
they perform both their state and federal missions. I believe it
is this association’s responsibility to insure all military
members and their families receive the best possible equipment,
training, facilities, and benefits. This is especially
challenging now that the National Guard is no longer considered
a strategic reserve force.
NGAUS is actively working the following issues for you!
• Expand the Post-9/11 GI Bill Benefits to include time served retroactive to 9/11
• Provide an incentive for continued service beyond 20 years, by
authorizing one year early retirement credit for every two years
served beyond twenty.
• Continue to provide robust
funding for ARNG equipment and the National Guard and Reserves
Equipment Account (NGREA), which enables the Guard to acquire
critical dual-use equipment for homeland disaster response
operation.
• Enable Traditional Guardsmen to travel space
available with dependants without restrictions like their active
duty counterparts.
2010 was our strongest membership year
ever, but there is always room for improvement. I challenge each
and every one of you as Professional Officers to help your State
and National Guard Association with your continued support. Our
final membership numbers for CY2010 were 67% for the New
Hampshire National Guard. The Air Guard ended the year at 98%
and the Army Guard final membership number was 52%.
This year is especially challenging for the New Hampshire National
Guard with the large number of deployed Soldiers and Airmen. Our
guardsmen and their families need the continued support of a
strong National Guard Association. I pledge to you as your
President, that this association will continue to stay engaged
to support guardsmen and veterans in the State of New Hampshire.
Thank you in advance for your support and please visit our
website at www.nganh.org where you will find association news,
events, current initiatives, and the ability to pay your
membership on line.
Sincerely,
Col Steven F. Greco (ret)
President
National Guard Association of New
Hampshire
